We have been trying to stay positive about thing for the most part, and try and bring you mostly happy and weird moments from the shortcake stand. But it’s time to vent a little… This summer has been rough for the shortcake business, along with every other business out a Coney Island. Granted, It hasn’t rained all summer, but it seems to always rain at the most inconvenient times. Friday nights, Saturdays and Sundays… By far the busiest times for the business and the days when you actually make your money. You see with Coney Island, when the rain starts, even if it is only a passing thunderstorm, at least half the people on the beach or boardwalk will pack up their stuff and head home. the other half will stick arround for a bit and if the rain stops they will go back to what they were doing, But if it rains again they too will also leave…..

this has been happening all summer long every other weekend, sometimes all weekend… The Weather channel has been our other worst enemy this summer. Even when it doesn’t rain, if the weather channel says it “might rain” we see a lot less people on the beach, because who wants to drive, or take the train all the way to Coney if the weather is going to send them home… it’s true when they say when it rains it pours, but when the weather is nice Coney Island is an absolutely amazing place to be…
